EFT vs. ERA

For All Medicare Submitters

EDI Support Services (EDISS) often gets questions regarding EFT updates and wants to provide clarification on EFT, ERAs, and who can assist with related questions.

EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) - The process whereby the provider's Medicare payment is transferred to the provider's bank and automatically deposited into their bank account. For assistance with your EFT, contact Provider Enrollment.

ERA (Electronic Remittance Advice) - The ERA is the electronic version of the SPR (Standard Paper Remittance), which serves as a notice of payment and adjustments sent to providers, billers, and suppliers. It explains the reimbursement decisions of Medicare. For assistance with your ERA, contact EDISS.
