Still Using an Old-Fashioned Modem?

For All Dial-Up Submitters

Modem technology is nearing end of life within the Healthcare industry and many Submitters are not aware of the alternative connectivity option available to them. Network Service Vendors (NSVs) offer an affordable and user-friendly connection to EDISS via an SFTP connection. Submitters who utilize Network Service Vendors do not experience the connectivity issues that most modem users experience.

A listing of Network Service Vendors can be found on www.edissweb.com under the Software/Connectivity page. We encourage your facility to research and consider if there is a Network Service Vendor that would fit well with your unique needs.

Utilizing the Gateway SSPR for Password Resets

For All Submitters

EDI Support Services (EDISS) requires all Gateway users to utilize the Gateway SSPR website to gain access to their account when their Gateway password has been forgotten or has expired.

The “Forgot password?” option utilizes the security questions and answers that were created during the registration process. EDISS recommends Gateway users store their security questions and answers in a safe and secure location where they can be accessed for future use.

To access the Gateway SSPR, visit https://accountmgt2.edissweb.com.

EDISS Remittance Advice Process Change

For All Medicare Part A and B Submitters

Based on recent CMS direction involving suppression of Standard Paper Remittance Advice (SPR) outlined in Change Request (CR) 10151,  EDISS is implementing a process change for Medicare 835 Remittance Advice recipients.

CR10151 eliminates the issuance of SPRs to providers/suppliers who have been receiving Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA). More details around the CR can be found here:  https://www.cms.gov/Outreach-and-Education/Medicare-Learning-Network-MLN/MLNMattersArticles/downloads/MM10151.pdf.

No Submitter action is needed, but for those that make changes in EDISS Connect to remove the 835 transaction, the following changes are being implemented immediately to address this CR.

Medicare Part A Providers:

Part A providers who unenroll from the 835 transaction in EDISS Connect will have their ERA option removed from the Medicare standard system and will not be moved back to a paper option. Part A providers have the option of viewing their Remittance Advice information in the Noridian Medicare Portal (NMP), but this option is not a full Remittance Advice. The Part A Remittance Advice in NMP are claim-level, single-line ERAs only.

Medicare Part B Providers:

Part B providers who unenroll from the 835 transaction in EDISS Connect will have their ERA option removed from the Medicare standard system and not be moved back to a paper option. Part B providers have the ability to view their full Remittance Advice in NMP. At the time of removal, EDISS will adjust the Medicare standard system to ensure that the NMP Remittance Advice option is automatically selected for future use. To view a Remittance Advice in NMP, providers will need to register for NMP full remittance advice access.

Part B providers are encouraged to register for the full remittance advice option in NMP.  For more information on NMP registration and functionality, please visit www.noridianmedicare.com.
